SENIOR GARMENT TECHNICIAN – GRANTHAM, LINCS

We are currently recruiting for a dedicated, commercially minded Garment Technician with a proven record in delivering successful results. Our brand, and luxury flagship store, is acknowledged as being at the very pinnacle of this prestigious, fashionable and uniquely luxurious environment where only the ultimate in customer service will suffice. We create exquisite handcrafted bespoke, MTO and MTM bridal and evening wear in the United Kingdom.
Provide technical support to all areas of the production department.
Assist in reviewing the most practical and cost-effective method of sewing (with consideration to alterations) whilst maintaining the original quality and appearance perceived by the designer in liaison with the design department.
Involvement with the design department to receive handover of new collections each season and ensure style packs are detailed as required and accurate to the gown.
Oversee make of first production sample and achieve sign off with Design room manager & designer.
Review all orders received from a technical perspective and write up any non-standard order instructions into a format where they can be entered onto the production system and understood by all departments, including writing instructions for MTM’s / amendments to patterns etc.
Amend patterns both prior and post toile fitting either manually or on CAD/CAM.
Produce MTM patterns using CAD /CAM system.
Assist in supervising the internal sewing department to monitor productivity and quality. Provide training and motivation where necessary, to achieve weekly targets.
Liaise and visit with outworkers to monitor maintain, and improve standards of quality and cost of making, providing instruction and training where necessary.
Ensure all finished gowns are made and shipped to our accepted quality standards (as defined by the MD).
Deal with any Stockist’s queries after receipt of a gown and monitor and process customer returns to a satisfactory resolution. Investigate issues of concern to establish cause, then formulate solutions to avoid a repeat. Develop procedures to avoid repetitive mistakes.
Key Skills & Experience.
Manual pattern cutting to an above-average standard.
Experience of Pattern making CAD/CAM systems, Vetigraph a distinct advantage.
Experience of corsetry desirable.
Good understanding of different sewing techniques and garment construction.
Ability to communicate with people of all backgrounds both internally and externally.
Ability to plan own workload, recognising priorities in relation to the smooth and efficient function of the overall business.
Computer literacy on Microsoft packages.
Minimum of 10 years experience in a similar role.
Relevant industry degree.
